Deliverables
On 1 October 2024, the National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) was relaunched as the government-owned National Energy System Operator (NESO).
For the launch, we delivered:

a content style guide to ensure a consistent tone of voice and writing style

rebranded PowerPoint and Word templates for presentations

NESO’s first interactive digital report, Winter Outlook
Outcome
We met tight deadlines through a collaborative, ‘one team’ approach tailored to NESO’s ways of working. This included customised project management processes to ensure successful delivery.
Business Plan design 2025/26
Brief
As a newly independent and publicly owned organisation, NESO needed to produce their first business plan for Ofgem, the government regulator.
The project required:

extensive copy editing to ensure consistency across contributions from eight departments
-
compliance with plain English guidelines and NESO’s content style guide
Outcome
By working closely with senior stakeholders at NESO, we delivered the business plan on time. Our agile approach allowed us to manage multiple reviews and last-minute updates while meeting all requirements.
Design, copy editing and production of reports
Since NESO launched in 2024, We Are One has designed and produced a wide range of its reports, including its flagship publication, Future Energy Scenarios 2025. This was the first edition of the report to be written and produced by NESO, following its previous publication by National Grid ESO.
The brief
The brief for the 170-page digital report, Future Energy Scenarios 2025, included creating branded illustrations, graphics and icons to reinforce its key messages.
Outcome
Working to very tight deadlines, we became an extension of NESO’s content team, providing continuous support and helping to increase productivity. We added value and creativity throughout the design process by developing fresh ideas and practical suggestions.
NESO’s first Future Energy Scenarios report was published successfully and received positive feedback from the client and wider industry.

Challenge
NESO needed to produce high-quality reports and documents in-house for a select audience without access to professional design support.
Solution
We created professionally designed, pre-programmed Microsoft Word and PowerPoint templates with a wide range of branded styles, layouts and graphics.
We also delivered copy-editing and proofreading workshops to help upskill their team.
Outcome
NESO can now produce consistently high-quality reports and documents in-house, maintaining the same professional standards across its internal publications.
